Pros:
* great location
* generally helpful and friendly staff
* pretty clean rooms
* free fruit and coffee downstairs
Cons:
* room 308 is louder than sleeping on the street. My wife and I heard every
footstep above, every cough to the side, etc.
* we complained multiple times to management, and since they were sold out of
our room type, they could only upsell us to a suite. (if your hotel is
preventing us from sleeping, please consider comping the room)
Convenient for 23 NW Ave. which has a few locals restaurants and bars on it. $10
cab downtown. Very helpful staff, excellent beds and pillows. Rate was
competitive of others in Portland for a Saturday night when the Trail Blazers
were playing. Large 40" flat screen TV. Midday check out which the staff were
happy to push to 1pm when asked. Goes a long way in my book.
What you might not like: bathroom is only shower/bath and toilet. Sinks are in
the main room (although to be fair there were two). Doesn't bother me, but some
may prefer a 'complete' bathroom. (example, the Holiday Inn Express down the
road is similarly located but has a 'complete' bathroom but standard TV).

I stay here for business and I really like the place. The staff is friendly and
willing to go out of their way for you, it is close to almost everything,
Montgomery Park, good places to eat, and the bus stop is right out front. The
rooms have clean, comfortable beds, New LG lcd TV's, free wifi, laundry room,
fridge, breakfast, and microwave. I think it is a great value for the money and
it doesn't have that big mega hotel feel.
The only negative thing about this place I can say is the work out room sucks.
Its consists of a treadmill, a bike, and a couple weights. There is an LA
Fitness and 24 fitness which is only 1.5 miles away which I run to to work out.

My husband and I stayed here while visiting Portland for a wedding in October.
We got a great deal by booking a package through Priceline and were very pleased
with our stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable, there's free parking, and
the location is really terrific -- just a short walk from great restaurants and
shops on NW 23rd, and close to the freeway for getting to other areas. Breakfast
is pretty standard but the waffles are a nice touch. We'd come back. (No idea
what the "hidden charges" review is about.)

We loved the three star Silver Cloud Hotel. It is a modern hotel and it sits
comfortably in the North-West of Portland, close to a nice neighborhood with
lots of small shops and good restaurants. Also quite near are the streetcar and
the bus to the center. Service in the hotel was impeccable, the people at the
reception desk very friendly and helpful. We appreciated the washing machine,
the large room, and the free parking. Breakfast did not impress us.
