What guests are saying about the Residence Inn Portland Riverplace

I like to stay at the Residence Inn but our room needed some repair. The bathroom sink had big cracks everywhere, the stove top didn't fit and the furniture was in need of cleaning or replacement. The location was great and so was the staff.

Loved our room, the view was nothing spectacular mostly construction. Bed was comfy, breakfast could have been better. We were there for Easter weekend so it was packed, not enough food or dishes for the amount of people there. The pool was extremely cold but nice that it is saline and not chlorine.

This is a good hotel in a good location with good service. I have stayed here several times over the past several years and they are always polite, professional, and helpful. Just what you would expect from Marriott and the Residence Inn. There are better hotels, but for price, value, service, and location, it's hard to beat this hotel. Also, there is little room to room noise and I have seldom heard neighbours upstairs or downstairs - so, it's well insulated from "noise overflow" meaning it is quiet.

I enjoyed my short stay in this fairly typical City style Residence Inn. Decor is pretty standard fare, the bed was Marriott comfortable....very good. I had a nice view of the Marquam Bridge and everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. It is a little awkward to get in and out of the waterfront neighbourhood bit once I figured it out it was ok. I'd stay here again, reasonably priced.

Pros:
-- Rooms were clean, very spacious and very comfortable.
-- Fitness centre was well equipped.
-- Breakfast is ample, with health choices including oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, nuts.
-- Right on the River walk, and a pleasant stroll to downtown

Cons:
-- Pay parking
-- Dog barking intermittently on our floor from 2:00-3:30am. When we complained to the front desk in the morning, the response was, "Yes, we had several complaints about that. We kept trying to phone them but it just went to voice mail." Really? That's all you did? So are you saying that the comfort of the dog is more important than your other paying guests? There were lots of dogs in this hotel, and (according to the front desk clerk) they're allowed on all floors, so I suppose it could be they couldn't figure out which room it was coming from.

I like dogs. I just don't want to listen to them for 90 minutes in the middle of the night when I'm on holiday. I would have given this place 4.5 stars otherwise.
