What guests are saying about the Hotel Vintage Plaza Portland

The Vintage Plaza is the best restoration of an older property I've seen--they managed to keep the regal style but didn't skimp on the upgrades. I wasn't able to touch the lovely V pulls on the main doors--the nattily clad doormen were right on top of things and really added a dash of panache.
We had sandwich lunches and it they were really nice. Not a location if you're short on change, but if you stay there, it will be money well spent.

I love Kimpton Hotels! I have stayed at Hotel Monaco (1 block away) several times, but stayed here due to a training being held at this location. Very stylish and as always, the hotel staff was very friendly. I was on the 3rd floor and my room opened up on the lobby below, which I found to be loud at times. My room was also a long room with a small window a the far end, which lead the opposite side of the room to feel like a cave. I am sure this is just due to renovating an older building and a 'quirk' of this room's layout. Overall my stay was great, but the layout out of my room left me feeling like a cave dweller... A lovely hotel, great staff, but I think next time I'll return to my favorite Portland property, Kimpton's Hotel Monaco.

The Hotel Vintage Plaza provides comfortable, attractive accommodations in downtown Portland. Our room service breakfast of tasty, special oatmeal included nice extra touches (fresh blueberries; dried cranberries; brown sugar). The hotel upgraded us to a huge deluxe room at no extra charge. Our room was quiet. The bed made sleeping easy. The hotel staff was friendly and reminded me that my room rate included a $20 food credit - something I would have forgotten otherwise. The hotel welcomes visitors with dogs at no extra charge. Dog bowls, dog treats, waste disposal bags, and a dog toy awaited our dog in our room.

I stumbled across this place when I couldn't get a booking at the sister hotel, the Monaco. What a wonderful hotel! From the booking process to the check-in, the stay itself, the great restaurant, the valet parking, and the check-out, everything was first class. It is in a heritage building, well situated in downtown Portland, within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, the river and places of interest. As part of Kimpton hotels, a boutique hotel group, they really do try to set themselves apart from the large chains and provide a nice experience. The service is outstanding without being obtrusive (which appears to be their style), and the rooms are very well appointed. It is my favourite hotel in Portland.

First off, I'm a bit of a Kimpton loyalist ever since stumbling upon this chain of boutique hotels five years ago. While a bit pricier than your average Holiday Inn, Kimptons are usually comparable in price to Hyatt's, Marriott's, and Hiltons, but offer a much more personal experience Hotel Vintage Plaza is no exception. The staff is genuinely friendly, knowledgeable about the city, and eager to help with suggestions for dining, shopping, and seeing the sights. There's poster in the elevator announcing Hotel Vintage Plaza recent recognition as the best place to work in Portland and it shows in the employees' attitudes...and that translates into good service.
As is true for all Kimptons, the rooms are decorated with high-style rather than the usual cookie cutter beige decor you find at most hotels. Style aside, the rooms can't be beat for comfort. The bed linens, mattress, and pillows are heavenly. We wanted to bring the bed home with us! The bathrooms are well supplied with finer soaps and shampoos, and best of all, the hotel supplies plush bathrobes!
Hotel Vintage Plaza is centrally located to most Portland attractions and happening neighbourhoods such as the Pearl District and Nob Hill. The Saturday Market, which is an outdoor market featuring arts & crafts goods from local artisans, is an easy walk from the hotel, as is more traditional shopping. And, Portland's wonderful public transportation system is just a block or so away. The light rail is an excellent way to get around town and up into Woodland Park for the zoo, arboretum, and rose gardens. We parked our car upon arrival and didn't need it again until check-out.
