There is nothing real wrong with the hotel, except that I found it very old and
outdated. The location is great, close to downtown or pearl district. The
service was ok, not making too much efforts but still kind when asked something.
All in all not bad, simply not my taste!

We love get away weekends to Portland to relax. This is the first time we have
stayed at the Benson.
I am disappointed this time. The bed is high centered in the middle so it forces
you to one side of the bed or the other. Not great for snuggling
There are finger prints on the back of the bathroom door and dust on shelves
Other than that we do like it here

Reason for Stay: Overnight stay on April 15 with son for college admit days, but
still needed to do a ton of work online during trip.
This is a 1912 property with much of original Edwardian style furnishings and
heavy wood paneling and bar. Public areas are kept up nicely. Rooms are smaller
than in some new properties, but not uncomfortable and you don't feel as if you
are overpaying. Hallways are faded and need to be freshened up. I stayed in a
12th floor jr suite overlooking Oak St. The extra space for working was welcome.
In this hotel a jr suite is a long single room with a small couch and a desk at
one end. The 12th floor was high enough that noise is not a big problem, but all
urban areas are loud. Could not hear other guests; I thought we were alone on
the floor until the next morning when I saw newspapers and room service orders.
GOOD: WiFi was free and the signal was good enough to do a lot of work through
VPN.
GOOD: Room service was prompt, food was reasonably priced and we enjoyed it
GOOD: Valet service fast and courteous
GOOD: Room and bathroom were clean
GOOD: The windows swing open
Overall, a low-key atmosphere; they don't have to cater to type-A billionaire
boys clubbers, so nobody is in your face. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
I'd stay here again.

Superb downtown location. Great deals and very ritzy yet comfortable. Valet
service is awesome.
